Tokyo stocks plummeted along a broad front Wednesday, taking the benchmark 225-issue Nikkei average below 10,000 for the first time since August 1984.
While Tokyo stocks rebounded later in the week, the Nikkei average dropped below the 10,000 level again Monday, with selling pressure regaining strength.
