A Japanese citizens' group is preparing to compile common teaching materials on East Asian history for use throughout the region in a bid to end disputes like the recent fight over a controversial Japanese history textbook.
Peace Boat, which organizes global peace cruises, said it has set up a task force to produce the common materials within a year for use in Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the two Koreas.
The 20-member team is made up of scholars and students mainly from Asia.
