Tokyo-based Nexion, a subsidiary of trading company Marubeni Corp., said Wednesday it had received an order to provide trans-Pacific video transmission services for high-definition digital broadcasts of the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics.
The broadcasts will be offered by national broadcaster NHK in February 2002.
Nexion, owned 96.4 percent by Marubeni and 3.6 percent by The Japan Times, delivers broadband services using Marubeni's infrastructure, which includes fiber-optic submarine cables, domestic lines and local optical networks.
