Despite facing new murder charges in Peru, former Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Fujimori will likely be allowed to stay in Japan.
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi indicated Thursday that Japan will not extradite the deposed leader, who fled to Tokyo, because he holds Japanese citizenship.
Koizumi, speaking to reporters at his official residence, stressed that Japan will maintain its basic stance, saying, "We can act in accordance with Japanese laws."
