Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will visit Japan for four days starting Sept. 12 to meet government officials and attend a business conference, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said Monday.
Arroyo is scheduled on Sept. 13 to meet the Emperor and Empress, hold talks with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, and give a speech at a world business conference on electronic business transactions, the ministry said.
She will also meet with Japanese lawmakers, representatives of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Japan, local business leaders, and members of the Philippine community in Japan, the ministry said.
Arroyo will be accompanied by her husband, lawyer-businessman Jose Miguel Tuason Arroyo. She will be making her first trip to Japan since becoming president in January.
