The government decided Monday to compile a list of priority items under Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's structural reform program, government officials said.
The priority list -- to be released Sept. 14 -- aims to present the public with a clear picture of proposed reforms. Draft proposals presented so far by ministries and agencies to the Koizumi-led Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy are too detailed for the public to easily understand and seem to say nothing new.
The list comes ahead of the planned compilation of a three-stage schedule of the reform program by the end of this month.
