Nikko Securities Co. has set up a Web site to provide free information on mergers and acquisitions to undercapitalized companies.
The site, called eM&A Market Japan, will serve as a go-between for companies wishing to buy and sell operations, Nikko officials said.
Companies planning to sell operations can provide relevant information to the Web site, such as capitalization and number of employees, while firms wishing to buy them can make purchase proposals, also online.
Under the system, companies will remain anonymous until negotiations get under way.
Nikko launched the service in response to increased M&A activity among smaller companies.
