Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will visit Hiroshima on Monday to attend a ceremony marking the 56th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the city, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda said Thursday.
Koizumi will visit a rehabilitation center for hibakusha and meet with representatives of the survivors to hear their requests, the government's chief spokesman said at a news conference.
Koizumi is also expected to visit Nagasaki on Thursday to participate in the anniversary of the atomic bombing of that city, government officials said.
