Tickets for preopening admission to Tokyo DisneySea, a new theme park set to open Sept. 4 adjacent to Tokyo Disneyland in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, are fetching high quotes on Internet auctions.
More than 200 offers of between 10,000 yen and 50,000 yen have thus far been posted on one major auction site for the preview tickets, which grant admission to the park in mid-August, just before the official opening.
Oriental Land Co., operator of the Disney theme parks in Japan, said two of the "Preview Passport" tickets were sent to each of the firm's around 68,000 shareholders earlier this month.
They give access to all the park's attractions, according to the company.
While the free tickets carry a note that they should not be transferred, an official of Oriental Land said the operator is not in a position to reject admission to a ticket holder.
Tokyo DisneySea features attractions inspired by sea legends and other marine themes.
After the official opening, a ticket giving access to all attractions will cost 5,500 yen for an adult, 4,800 yen for a child aged 12-17 years old and 3,700 yen for a child aged 4-11 years old.
