Police have arrested one man and are searching for another in connection with a bar dispute in January that left a member of a suspected group of burglars with knife and gunshot wounds, police said Monday.
Yu Haoqing, 30, was arrested on suspicion of participating in the assault, police said. Another Chinese man, Weng Yujian, 24, was put on the wanted list.
On Jan. 24 a 23-year-old man was shot in the stomach and cut in the head and shoulders at 6 a.m. in a bar in Tokyo's Edogawa Ward, police said. The injured man was quoted as telling police he was shot because he told the group's leader that Yu made off with stock certificates and other items the group had stolen.
At least five others were involved in the incident, police said.
