Four European cultural centers in Kyoto will present an annual workshop between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on June 30 at the Goethe-Institut Kansai's Kyoto center in the city's Sakyo Ward.
This year's theme is "Technology and IT for a City of Culture." Ian Shortreed, president of Kyoto-based Mercury Software Japan Inc., will serve as moderator and will be joined by representatives from Germany, Britain, France and Italy to discuss how information technology and other technological advances can contribute to cultural activities in Kyoto, taking into consideration the examples and experiences of their respective countries.
The workshop will be held in English but Japanese interpretations will be provided.
Entrance is free and a reservation is not required.
The venue is a six-minute walk from the No. 5 exit of Marutamachi Station on the Keihan Line.
