Sony Corp. will transfer its engineering division for mass-produced products, such as radios and radio-cassette decks, to a new subsidiary on July 1 to facilitate product development and production, officials said Friday.
The subsidiary, Sony EMCS Corp., was established on April 1 to integrate engineering, development, procurement production and other operations at 12 domestic plants.
The transfer will involve some 140 workers, including those in the administrative section, and be the first in a series of moves to Sony EMCS.
