The Investment Trusts Association said Friday that Yoshiaki Kaneko has been named vice chairman at an extraordinary general meeting, replacing Takashi Hinata, who resigned.
Kaneko, a former Finance Ministry bureaucrat and managing director of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, will take over the remainder of Hinata's term by the end of this month.
He will be appointed to his own two-year term at the association's regular general meeting later this month.
The association is an industry body for investment trusts, which are known as mutual funds in some countries.
