Former Chief Cabinet Secretary Seiroku Kajiyama, who died last June at age 74, left behind about 400 million yen in taxable assets.
The calculation, made Tuesday, was based on a Tokyo tax office announcement and past disclosure of his assets, which include real estate, bank deposits, stocks and bonds.
The assets were inherited by Kajiyama's widow, Harue, their son, Hiroshi, who has taken over his father's political base and is a member of the House of Representatives, and his sister, Atsuko.
The estimated 212 million yen in assets left to Harue Kajiyama were made public by the tax office, but the total inheritance left by Kajiyama, who also served as secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party, is estimated to be worth more than 400 million yen, based on past disclosures.
