Advertising agency Dentsu Inc. reported Tuesday a 99.8 percent rise in group net profit to a record 41.3 billion yen in fiscal 2000.
The rise was attributed to sharp gains in advertisement revenue driven by information technology-related investments and improved corporate earnings.
Pretax profit rose 44.7 percent to 71.89 billion yen, billings, which are equivalent to sales for ordinary business corporations, grew 13.4 percent to 1.814 trillion yen, and operating profit rose 43.7 percent to 72.5 billion yen.
Unconsolidated net profit soared 31.5 percent to 25 billion yen and operating profit 42 percent to 54.1 billion yen on billings of 1.499 trillion yen, up 11.1 percent.
By category, billings increased by 12.5 percent for newspapers, 4.6 percent for magazines, 11.2 percent for television and 10.9 percent radio, the company said.
Dentsu plans to list its stock by next spring.
