NEC Corp. said Thursday it will sell its entire laser printer operations, including production and maintenance services, to Fuji Xerox Co., a subsidiary of Fuji Photo Film Co.
Under the deal, NEC will hand over its wholly owned subsidiary, NEC Niigata Ltd., based in Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture, to Fuji Xerox, the company said.
Details of the sale will be worked out by the end of July, it said.
NEC officials said intense competition has hurt the company's laser printer business and NEC wants to fully concentrate on Internet-related businesses.
NEC is currently the third biggest domestic seller of laser printers.
