Nikon Corp. said Tuesday it will recall its Nikon u single-reflex camera to fix a defect that shortens the life of a battery used to record the date and time.
Subject to the recall are some 55,000 units shipped within and outside of Japan, the major camera maker said.
Nikon said two transistors on a printed circuit are adversely installed so that the built-in battery used to record the date and time expires in six months rather than 3 years, as designed.
The defect does not affect photo-taking functions, it said.
