Popular singer Eigo Kawashima died of a liver disease Monday at a hospital in Higashi-Osaka, Osaka Prefecture. He was 48.
Hailing from Osaka Prefecture, Kawashima, who was also a songwriter, enjoyed widespread popularity and appeared in TV dramas.
One of Kawashima's most popular songs was "Sake to Namida to Otoko to Onna" ("Drinks, Tears, a Man and a Woman").
The song was released in 1975.
