Canon Inc. said Tuesday that it will release the world's smallest digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens in early April.
The new IXY Digital 300, a sister model to the popular IXY Digital introduced in May last year, is 94.8 mm wide, 62.5 mm high and 29.9 mm thick and weighs around 240 grams, Canon said in a press release.
Priced at 85,000 yen, the camera boasts a 2.11-million-pixel CCD sensor and a 3x zoom lens retractable to the size of a 10-yen coin, or about 23 mm in diameter.
Users can also create credit card-size photo prints by using Canon's new Card Photo Printer CP-10, which does not need a personal computer.
The camera allows photos to be prepared for use as e-mail attachments and simple editing of photos and movie clips.
