Nihon Unisys Ltd. will appoint Mitsui & Co. Vice President Seiichi Shimada as its president, industry sources said.
The appointment may take effect after the firm's annual shareholders' meeting in late June, the sources said.
The firm, which imports and markets computers and was jointly set up by Mitsui and Unisys Corp. of the United States, is expected to make a formal decision later this week on the appointment of Shimada, 63, to replace Junichi Amano, 68, they said Sunday.
Shimada, a native of Tokyo and a graduate of the faculty of law of the University of Tokyo, joined Mitsui in 1961. He has been vice president since June.
