Electric Power Development Co., a semipublic Japanese company, said Thursday it will invest 620 million yen in a Thai power company to help pay for the construction of a combined cycle gas plant.
EPDC said it will take a stake of roughly 20 percent in TLP Cogeneration Co., which is located in Layong and is capitalized at 3.1 billion yen.
Construction of the 105,000-kw plant will start in April, with operations scheduled to start in January 2003. The project will cost 10.2 billion yen, EPDC officials said.
