Atento Pasona Inc. started operations Thursday at its first call center in Tokyo's Toshima Ward to promote its Web-based customer relationship management services in Japan.
The eCRM Contact Center, with the latest servers and 550 workstations, handles various businesses through e-mail and online marketing, company officials said.
The firm hopes to earn more than 2 billion yen in sales during the center's first year of operations by attracting companies that want to outsource their CRM activities, they said.
It also plans to build similar contact centers in other prefectures, including Hokkaido, Osaka and Okinawa, by 2003.
Atento Pasona was established in September by Pasona Inc., a major Japanese human resources firm, and Atento, a U.S.-based CRM provider. Atento is wholly owned by Spain's largest telecommunications operator, Telefonica Group.
