The Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry on Wednesday reprimanded eight senior officials who were treated by scandal-tainted mutual aid organization KSD to meals and games of golf.
The reprimands followed an internal inquiry into 45 bureaucrats who were vice ministers or held high-ranking positions with ties to KSD's operations between 1991 and 2000 at the former Labor Ministry, which was incorporated into the current ministry in January.
KSD is at the center of a money-for-favors political scandal that has led to the arrest of two former Liberal Democratic Party lawmakers who allegedly urged labor ministry officials to approve the creation of a school that was a pet project of KSD's former head, Tadao Koseki.
