Shizuka Kamei, policy chief of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, said Tuesday that a supplementary budget should be compiled to boost the economy.
The comment came while the fiscal 2001 budget remains under Diet consideration.
"We cannot rely completely (for economic stimulus) on the fiscal 2001 budget," Kamei, chairman of the LDP's Policy Research Council, said at the party's convention in Tokyo.
