Toyota Motor Corp. is thinking of bidding for a prime spot in Tokyo's Roppongi district that would serve as the site of its new Tokyo head office and an automobile theme park, company sources said.

Toyota, the nation's largest automaker, is the first company to indicate an interest in buying the 78,000-sq.-meter Roppongi site, which is valued at 400 billion yen.

The lot once housed the headquarters of the Defense Agency, which moved to Ichigaya, Shinjuku Ward, in May.

The automaker, based in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, plans to move its Tokyo headquarters from Bunkyo Ward and build a theme park that will feature automobile-related attractions as well as apartments and houses, the sources said Friday.
