The number of people with Internet-capable mobile phones stood at 31.41 million at the end of February, up a sharp 2.16 million from a month earlier, the Telecommunications Carriers Association said Wednesday.
The number of users of all types of mobile phones grew by 710,000 to 65.27 million. The expansion was led by a rise of 720,000 in cellular phone users to 59.45 million, which more than offset a decrease of 10,000 in PHS users to 5.82 million.
