Major synthetic resin maker Hitachi Chemical Co. said Wednesday it has revised upward its parent-only net profit projection for fiscal 2000 to 7.9 billion yen from the 6 billion yen forecast earlier.
The revised profit for the year through March 31 is higher than the 7.86 billion yen posted in fiscal 1999. The firm had earlier projected a profit fall.
The Hitachi Ltd. group firm traced the revision to 2.7 billion yen in extraordinary gains from sales of shares in two of its subsidiaries. But it said its pretax profit and sales projections for the same period are unchanged from midterm book-closing estimates last year.
The pretax profit for fiscal 2000 will come to 20.7 billion yen on anticipated sales of 262 billion yen, it added.
