King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway will make a weeklong visit to Japan starting March 25 to deepen friendly relations between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

The king and queen will meet the Emperor and Empress, who will host a dinner at the Imperial Court, and attend a luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori and his wife, Chieko, the ministry said.

The royal couple, who will be accompanied by an entourage including Foreign Minister Thorbjorn Jagland and Royal Palace Lord Chamberlain Lars Petter Forberg, are also scheduled to travel to Nagasaki during their stay, the ministry said.
