Tokyo stocks have been exhibiting chaotic movement over the past month.
With the downtrend in share prices continuing unabated, the benchmark 225-issue Nikkei average fell below the psychologically crucial 13,000 barrier repeatedly in intraday trading and finally closed last week at 12,261.80 -- its lowest close since July 31, 1985.
The Tokyo stock price index, which shows overall market trends, dropped below 1,200 to end the week at 1,199.84, marking its lowest close since March 12, 1999.
