Railway companies have still not decided whether to ban alcohol sales on train platforms a month after two men were killed by a train while trying to rescue a drunken man who fell onto tracks at a Tokyo station.
The two were killed at Shin-Okubo Station on the Yamanote Line on Jan. 26. The line's operator, East Japan Railway Co., has called for "self-restraint" and has pulled alcoholic beverages from kiosks at some of its stations.
