Jusco Co., a Chiba-based major supermarket operator, is negotiating with Diamond Power Corp. for the electricity supply of its large shopping centers in Aichi and Mie prefectures, Jusco officials said Thursday.
The two facilities are Bay City Shinagawa, a multipurpose commercial complex in Nagoya's Minato Ward, and Aeon Suzuka Shopping Center in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture.
Chubu Electric Power Co. currently supplies electricity to those facilities. If all goes well, Jusco wants to shift to Diamond Power as early as May.
Diamond Power plans to purchase excessive electricity generated at Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.'s power plant in Yokkaichi, also in Mie Prefecture.
Diamond Power is now negotiating purchasing prices with Mitsubishi Chemical.
