Mazda Motor Corp. on Monday launched a deluxe version of its popular MPV minivan.
The VS (vintage and sports) version is based on the 2.5-liter V6 engine Sport model and incorporates a number of enhancements, including genuine leather on the steering wheel and seats and chrome-plated side mirrors, Mazda said.
The manufacturer's suggested retail prices for the two-wheel-drive VS, excluding sales tax, are 2,843,000 yen in Sapporo, 2,819,000 yen in Sendai, 2,798,000 yen in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Hiroshima, and 2,823,000 yen in Fukuoka. Price differences are chiefly due to shipping costs.
Although the enhancements are worth 450,000 yen, the price of the VS is only 300,000 yen more than the original model, it added.
Mazda also said the VS honors the MPV's selection as the winner of the Best Minivan award by the Automotive Researchers and Journalists Conference of Japan.
