The Fukuoka High Public Prosecutor's Office said Monday that it will launch a criminal investigation into the leaking of investigative information by the deputy chief of the Fukuoka District Public Prosecutor's Office.
Earlier in the day, government sources said that the Justice Ministry and the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office will soon question Eiju Yamashita, 51, who has admitted leaking investigative information to a local judge whose wife allegedly threatened to kill another woman.
They plan to interrogate Yamashita to determine if his action violated the law governing central government employees.
