After peaking out last April, Tokyo stocks have fallen past one major threshold after another and are now languishing at the lowest level since late 1998.
The market plunge since fall is particularly attributable to the rapid U.S. slowdown and delayed writeoffs of bad loans in Japan.
The long downward trend of Tokyo stocks is, however, nearing an end.
