A resident of Hokkaido spends an average of 30 million yen on medical costs in a lifetime, between 3 million yen and 5 million yen more than a resident of Chiba or Nagano prefectures, according to a recent study by a group of researchers.
Average medical expenses for a woman living in Hokkaido total 30.53 million yen during her lifetime, while expenses for a man come to about 29.61 million yen, the study shows.
However, a woman in Chiba Prefecture will spend an average of 26.06 million yen on health costs during her life, while the figure for a man is 26.65 million yen, it says.
