TDK Corp., a major manufacturer of electronic parts, said Wednesday it has established a research and development unit in Phoenix, Arizona.
TDK R&D Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of TDK U.S.A. Corp., carries out market research, research on advanced communications technologies and the design and test-manufacturing of parts for mobile communications, TDK said.
TDK R&D will open a mobile communications parts R&D unit called the Telecom Technology Development Center, which will use its technology to develop high-frequency communications and other products tailored to the U.S. market, it said.
The new R&D center will cover wireless local area networks, integrated circuits for communication, optical fiber communication modules and antennas for two-way radios.
TDK R&D is capitalized at $1 million and has about 15 staff.
The new R&D center was added to the existing TTDC in Japan and TTDC-Europe at TDK Electronics Ireland Ltd.
