Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. said Wednesday it has set up an in-house division in charge of devising business strategies related to the Internet.
Matsushita President Kunio Nakamura will head the division and oversee the activities of several project teams to be put together with staff from various sections of the company, Matsushita said.
These project teams will be temporarily staffed by employees with varying but related skills depending on the theme or task at hand, meaning the division's staff will be fluid and constantly changing rather than manned by permanent employees, it said.
The project themes will focus on new products and services derived by linking audiovisual equipment with mobile phones, or by connecting digital broadcast receivers and telecommunications services, it said.
