A 26-year-old South Korean student was one of two men killed by a train as they tried to pull a drunken man off the tracks at a station on Tokyo's Yamanote Line on Friday evening, police said Saturday.

Police said Lee Su Hyon and Japanese photographer Shiro Sekine, 47, were run over and killed by the train at around 7:15 p.m. at JR Shin-Okubo Station in Shinjuku Ward. The two jumped onto the tracks after seeing the drunk man tumble off the platform.

Police and witnesses said a 37-year-old man identified as Seiko Sakamoto, a plasterer from Asaka in Saitama Prefecture, fell onto the tracks and Sekine and Lee immediately jumped down to pull him out. Sakamoto was also killed in the accident.
