As part of its influence-buying efforts in 1996, the former head of scandal-hit mutual-aid organization KSD gave a former Cabinet minister of the Liberal Democratic Party 10 million yen in cash, according to KSD sources.
The 10 million yen was a portion of 45 million yen made available for bribing politicians, arranged by former KSD chief Tadao Koseki, 79, who was indicted on charges of embezzlement and breach of trust for misusing KSD funds, the sources said Wednesday.
Several million yen was also given to three people who ran in the October 1996 House of Representatives election, while several other people received 1 million yen each.
