Officials at Waseda University's School of Political Science and Economics said Wednesday that some final examination papers for about 100 courses may have been stolen from its office.
The final exams, to be administered the same day, went ahead as scheduled by using substitute questions, according to officials at the university in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward.
Department staff Friday noticed that some of the question sheets, which were stored at the department office, were missing or showed evidence of having been read, the officials said, adding that 189 completed answer sheets for a semester examination held last July were also missing from the department. The exam was for a labor economics course held in the first semester.
