Mitsubishi Motors Corp. on Friday approved the appointment of Rolf Eckrodt of DaimlerChrysler AG as the Japanese automaker's new executive vice president and chief operating officer.
With the approval, Eckrodt, who previously headed the railway systems subsidiary of the German-American automaker, officially took the No. 2 position at MMC.
DaimlerChrysler last year became MMC's largest shareholder by acquiring a 34 percent equity stake. The two agreed the amount will be fixed for three years.
