MIYAZAKI -- Skynet Asia Airways, a small airline based in Miyazaki, plans to apply to the government by September for approval to open a route between Tokyo and Miyazaki, airline officials said Thursday.
The company hopes to begin the new service during fiscal 2001, they said.
Skynet, which plans to provide round-trip services three times a day, will offer cut-rate fares by reducing costs through a tieup with Skymark Airlines, another small airline, they said.
One-way airfares are expected to be set at 18,000 yen against the 31,000 yen currently offered by the three major domestic airlines, the officials said.
Skynet also plans to launch services between Fukuoka and Miyazaki during fiscal 2002 and between Fukuoka and Seoul during fiscal 2003.
