In an effort to combat a decline in sales amid stagnant consumer spending, Amway Japan Ltd. President Stephen A. Robbins is determined to raise the direct selling firm's public profile by forming alliances with major Japanese companies.
Robbins, who has a legal background and working experience in Asia, Europe and South America, assumed Amway Japan's top position in August, at a time when the firm had been suffering declining sales for four consecutive years.
Robbins is now ready to implement a series of measures designed to reverse this sluggish performance by the Japanese arm of the U.S.-based firm Amway Corp., ranging from forging strategic alliances with major Japanese companies to raising the efficiency of its sales network by utilizing the Internet.
