URAWA, Saitama Pref. (Kyodo Saitama Prefectural Police arrested a high school student Tuesday for allegedly stabbing and wounding a 32-year-old housewife he had dated after getting acquainted on a Web site.
The 18-year-old boy from Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder the woman, who is married to a corporate worker, by stabbing her with a kitchen knife at the couple's home in the city of Iwatsuki, Saitama Prefecture, around 3 p.m. Monday, police said.
The woman suffered injuries to her back and neck that will require three weeks of treatment, they said.
The boy, whose name is being withheld because he is a minor, reportedly turned himself in at Utsunomiya Higashi Police Station shortly before 8 p.m. Monday. Iwatsuki police then went to the house and found the wife lying on the second floor.
The student allegedly got to know the woman around October through a Web site dating service and visited her in Iwatsuki several times since the start of this month.
Police quoted the boy as saying, "I was bound to reach a dead end because she has a husband."
