Core machinery orders to Japanese manufacturers slipped 2.9 percent in November from the preceding month to 1.06 trillion yen after adjustment for seasonal factors, the Cabinet Office said Tuesday.
The downturn followed an 8.3 percent increase in October. However, the orders surged 22 percent from a year earlier on an unadjusted basis for the 12th straight month of improvement.
"We've maintained our view for three months in a row that we are witnessing an upward trend in machinery orders as a whole," said an official of the Cabinet Office.
