OSAKA -- A 20-year-old cook was arrested Saturday night after hijacking a Kyoto city bus carrying only a driver and another passenger, police said Sunday.
Apprentice cook Katsutoshi Yamanaka boarded the bus in Kyoto's Fushimi Ward around 9:35 p.m. and allegedly ordered the driver at knifepoint to hand over some money or take him to Osaka.
A resident of Fushimi Ward, the cook was subdued around 10:25 p.m. after police stormed the bus as it stopped at a traffic light in the city of Ibaraki, Osaka Prefecture, about 25 km southwest of Kyoto.
