Senior government officials and private corporate executives of the Group of Eight major countries will meet in Tokyo in late May to discuss a possible joint strategy toward fighting high-tech crime, especially cybercrime, government sources said Thursday.
The sources said the high-profile conference will be held for three days, starting May 22, about two months ahead of the next G8 summit in Genoa, Italy. the G8 comprises the United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Japan and Russia.
High-tech crime is expected to increase rapidly amid the ongoing globalization and information technology revolution.
