OSAKA -- A 66-year-old woman and her son were killed in a fire in Suita, Osaka Prefecrture, early Sunday morning, police said.
The fire broke out at a two-story wooden house owned by Kazuko Goto, 66, at about 4 a.m. and consumed about half of the structure, police said. It had a total floor space of some 120 sq. meters.
Two bodies identified as those of Goto and her second son Jinya, 31, were discovered on the second floor of the house.
Goto's 36-year-old daughter, a company employee, was in the house at the time but managed to escape, police said.
The mother and son were both unemployed.
