The Tokyo Stock Exchange on Friday bid farewell to 2000 with the main gauge falling enough to flirt with a two-year low.
The benchmark 225-issue Nikkei average ended the abbreviated trading session at 13,785.69 after losing 161.27.
For the year, the Nikkei plummeted 5,148.65 points, or 27.19 percent, entirely erasing its gain of 5,092.17 points in 1999.
