The latest official poll taken by Kyodo News shows the approval rating for Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori's outgoing Cabinet falling to 18.8 percent and the disapproval rating reaching 75 percent.
The disapproval rate was up 16.8 percentage points from Kyodo's previous in-person poll carried out in early October, while the support rate was down 14.6 points.
But Mori came out better in the current poll when compared to an emergency telephone survey that Kyodo conducted Oct. 31 which found the highly criticized prime minister with a support rate of 18.3 percent.
